Further update ... although its working perfectly on a cleanly installed joomla, applying the same steps to an existing (patched up to date) install (with all other plugins and modules either on or off) it DOESNT now work on the patched to date joomla install (although this is with another host) :-((

what a pain ..

Hi,

Firsly many thanks for your help and the time you are taking.

Ok, I deleted livewriter's log and then tried to setup the account on my site, I'll attach (hopefully) a jpg of the livewriter error message and paste in the log.

Now not one to give up easily I tried another API (the metaweblog API/RSD) (knowing in advance there were numerous reports of major problems getting pictures to upload automatically) which worked first time (disabling the moveable type API) and created the account/posted succesfully. However incorporating a picture in the post gave me a similar message to that attached and a failure to post ..... sssoooooo not one to give up again i tried the zoundry raven blogging client (configurable to ftp the pictures up to my server and link it all together) with the metaweblog API/RSD .. it worked but whata fuss and i would rather not have an ftp account in the blogging client plus it didnt resize the image as livewriter does and so it broke my template .... ssiiigggghhhh livewriter is the best for me and your API

What I am coming round to is that either something to do with my hosting environment or some quirk in my joomla installation (tried switching off all other plugs and modules) is causing the probs (as it works perfectly on another hoster/virgin joomla install)

any other ideas would be gratefully appreciated before i backup/zap the whole joomla site over the weekend and try it out on a virgin joomla install on this hoster (the non working one)

all the best
